This past week has been…how do I put this lightly… turn around and crawl back in bed- BITTER outside
I’m sure i’m not the only one who’s resented their icy cold smoothie as they step foot into the rainy mist called the outdoors.
Tis the season where we drop our blenders like its hot and bust out the porridge and the chamomile tea.
Seems like an odd time to roll out a new smoothie recipe blog, right?
Hear me out.
As the leaves crisp up and the sun sets earlier and earlier, it is ideal time to keep our digestion on point, inflammation low and our immunity defenses strong!
This brightly flavoured smoothie was an accident, the result of putting orange, lemon, and ginger in everything since I started playing tug-of-war with a cold last week.
Lemon, ginger & orange are main players in a flu-fighters pantry. Anti-inflammatory, and a natural antidote to free radicals, Vitamin C is your pal when it comes to preventing colds and illnesses on a daily basis.
Chia seeds are thrown in here for thickness and texture, but also provides omega 3 and 6 fatty acids that have recently been shown to increase the function of immune cells.
Back to flavour:
This smoothie is creamy, radiant, tart, ever so slightly gingery; A dessert in a glass as they say.
I’m not one to share smoothie recipes,
I believe they are generally intuitive, a splash of plant milk here, a squeeze of orange there, shake and bake.
But this glowing glass is the real deal, easy to make with what you already have in your pantry, and a surprising blend of flavours that make it taste store-bought (in the made by a seasoned raw food chef way)
A dreamy delicious creamsicle with a ginger kick, ready to arm you body with an army of antioxidants. This golden smoothie packs an energizing punch!
